The Army has denied media reports suggesting that some senior military officials had pocketed more than $40 million meant for settlement of peacekeeping allowances.
This was contained in a disclaimer statement issued from the Defence headquarters in Abuja.
“The petition published by Sahara Reporters alleging that Nigerian Army Generals pocketed $43 million meant for peacekeeping is unnecessarily malicious, belated and misleading,” parts of the disclaimer statement read.
It added that the settlement of outstanding peacekeeping allowances commenced last week and all entitled personnel would get paid.
The statement from the Defence headquarters said no General embezzled any money as had been alleged. - CAJ News
